The self-proclaimed Black President lived from October 15, 1938 to August 2, 1997. All business came to a halt in Lagos on the day of his burial, August 12, in expression of the solidarity that the hundreds of thousands of his countrymen and women couldn’t collectively accord him in the struggles that he practically carried alone against one federal government after another in Nigeria.
Some 40 years after Fela unleashed his infectious music on the socio-political experience of Nigeria, the causes for which he fought remain insignificant to the intellectual dregs of the society that have hijacked Nigeria’s government.
