and you woke up in the morning to see the direct effect of the dirt on the polling numbers of your opponent. Not any more! McCain is finding this out to his severe chagrin.
The Republican Party flag bearer had been convincing in his pledge to run a clean campaign where nothing but the issues would be the focus. Unfortunately the stench of the outcome of his buddy Bush’s handiwork created a substantial obstacle in the way of a waltz for him and Cindy into the White House. As we come closer and closer to Election Day (in another 26 days), polls indicate that Obama’s manifesto is appealing to a larger segment of the electorate.
The work of Bush and his administration has put the country into such dire straits that the subtle hints of fear that would normally have herded the populace into the Republican corner are now largely ineffective. McCain has succumbed to the case that he had to step up the tearing down of his opponent to make him (McCain) the more appealing option.

Thanks to readily accessible neutral agencies like factcheck.org, outrageous claims are investigated and judged true or false and made immediately available to the electorate. Where the offending camp fails to recognize that it’s been called out and continues to associate itself with the falsehood, its credibility drops.
The outcome of such reality check was apparent at the second presidential debate October 7 as the audience’s dial (a gadget used by participants to measure their reaction to candidates’ utterances) dipped any and every time McCain took to the gutter.
Thank goodness for the level of education of the electorate. It has obviously been a while getting to this point. While many people had been convinced of the appeal of Obama’s programs, a surprising number, according to polls, had remained resistant. The resistance that remains will probably whither to an insignificant low by November 4 (God bless the day).
